An old college friend of mine and her buddy came into town last weekend. I was a little nervous about being the "tour guide" for these two because I don't feel like I know the city well enough to keep people entertained. But it ended up being lots of fun and they were very forgiving in my lack of Las Vegas expertise. I shot quite a few photos though because I realized I haven't gone exploring the city- city part of Las Vegas much since moving here so I felt very touristy as I stopped and took pictures of the main sights along with the thousands of other people walking the strip on a Saturday night.
The main exciting part of the weekend (at least this was in my opinion) was a fun adventure we had that is not even a "typical" Las Vegas tourist spot. Extreme Makeover Home Edition was in town, bulldozing a lucky family's home and building it up from the ground up. Who could pass up an experience like that?? So we trekked it up to a small community near North Las Vegas and saw the action taking place live! It was interesting to see it real. This house was crammed between two others, had no backyard, and there was very little space for spectators to watch. It will be interesting to see how it appears on tv. I really really wanted to be there to yell "Move that Bus!!" But the only info I could find was that the family was coming home Tuesday. No time or approximate time or anything! I worked that day obviously and I wasn't sure if it would be worth it to drive up there to see what was going on. I am really curious to see how the house ended up. Maybe I will drive up there sometime soon and take a little gander. :)
I was quite bummed to see that there was no real big fun sign hanging up for a good picture opp. So I squeezed my way to the front of the crowd (which actually was no crowd at the time) and wedged my way next to a worker with his shirt on- and his back to me. Perfect right? Another lady was watching me do this, she found it quite humorous but I know without a doubt she probably did the same thing after I left! We ended up not staying too long. . . afterall. . . they were building a house, and the fact that it is going to be on tv didn't make the process any more exciting. I was really hoping to catch a glimpse of Ty, the host of the show. . . but I probably had better odds of seeing him on the strip then at the house anyway. . . no such luck. Oh well . . .it was still fun.

Happy Birthday to Me (And Molly)!
So now I am officially one year older. 26 seems like a pretty good age so I am pretty excited. My birthday was on a Tuesday, so on Monday night a little group of friends took me and another boy out because his birthday was that day. I didnt really know the chap all that well, but it turns out that he was turning 26 as well, we were both born in the 7 o'clock pms, we both had a twin sibling of the same gender (sister for me, brother for him--get it?) both of which are now married and living far away. Geesh. . . by the end of the night, it felt like we were meant to be quadrupalets! Anywhoo. . . we went to eat dinner and then went to the movies and it was just a really fun night. On Tuesday, my actual birthday, my other friend took me out to a fancy schmancy restaurant--definitely not a Kelly kind of place. . . but it was still fun, and made me feel important for the evening. :)
I randomly made it home to California that weekend as well. Little Cayden was in his first on stage production as an enchanted candlestick in the play "Beauty and the Beast." He was sooo adorable and dad even got a video of him doing his dance but unfortunately I don't have a copy of it. If I ever do get a copy. . . it will for sure be posted. But for now. . . you will just have to trust that it was super cute. Since I was home. . . we did a bit of the birthday thing as well. It was a super busy weekend, but they were sure to have yummy Marie Calendar's Chocolate pie waiting for me upon my arrival and my present wrapped and waiting. Dad took a picture of me with it, which again, I do not have. But the picture was basically a replica of the one posted below because, well, I lost my camera only weeks after Christmas so I got the exact same one for my birthday! Yay!
I will surely be more careful with this one! Thanks to everyone for all the birthday texts, and posts, and phone calls! It was a great day and I am happy that I have so many wonderful friends that were thinking of me! :)
